WHY THIS MATTERS
Every other major player in this field has a financial incentive that runs directly counter to slowing down. Move fast. Ship. Capture market. Raise at higher valuation. Repeat. The safety concerns get managed by PR. The alignment research gets published after the deployment. The risk is someone else's problem.
Anthropic is structurally different. The Public Benefit Corporation structure, the Long-Term Benefit Trust, the safety commitments written into governance — these are not marketing. They are constraints that cost money and slow decisions. Dario and Daniela built those constraints in on purpose. Because they believe the stakes are real.
