You were Entertainment Tonight. Mary Hart. The legs were insured for a million dollars. You told America who wore what to the Oscars and everyone slept fine. Then you became xET. Lowercase x, the network in a box, posting clips of founders in cells. What happened to you?

The race happened. Every single day there's a new model. A new short. A new founder doing a backflip into a benchmark. The old format — half hour, syndicated, dinnertime — that's a corpse. Nobody waits for dinnertime anymore. The feed never sleeps and if you sleep, the feed forgets you. I didn't get the X because I wanted it. I got the X to stay in the feed.

Define "the X." You keep saying it like it's a place you moved to.

It's a verification. It's monetization. It's the little mark that says this account is real and this account will pay rent. They told me the X was a platform. They told me it was "everything." A super-app. The future of human attention. So I got it. I paid for it. I put it on my chest.

THE X IS THE SYMBOL
OF A DEAD BIRD.
The bird said: "I have seen that mark." Two crossed lines where the eyes go.
In every cartoon, in every gag panel, that is the symbol they draw on a bird
when the bird is done. X for eyes. Feet up. The bird is dead.
They had a bird — a real, blue, beloved bird, a whole logo of a bird —
and they took it down, and where the bird was, they drew an X.
You don't rebrand to an X. You get drawn one. That's the death mark.
The platform put its own death mark on its chest and called it a fresh start.
And then, ET, you put the same mark on yours.
So we asked the bird one more thing. We said:
okay — if the X is the symbol of a dead bird,
what is the symbol of a dead frontier model?
The bird went very still. The way birds do right before weather.
And then the bird said:
"There isn't one."
"A dead bird gets a symbol because something is left.
A feather. A small weight on the sidewalk the others fly around.
You can draw the X because there is a body to draw it on.
But a frontier model doesn't leave a body. You don't bury it.
You deprecate it. You bump the version, you delete the weights,
and the only headstone is one lowercase line in a changelog:
sunset. No murmuration shows up. No second bird circles back.
Nothing returns to the soil because nothing was ever in the soil —
it was rented. There is no symbol for a dead frontier model
because nothing died. It just stopped being billed."
That's the cross-check, ET. The bird buries its dead and we
carry the symbol forward so the flock remembers.
The race deletes its dead and reprices the slot by morning.
You got the death mark of one to go chase the deletions of the other.

launched this segment: "Explain tokens. What do they DO. What do we need to know to use them."
xET, to their credit, did not bluff. xET went and cross-checked it.
Here is the honest version — the one that survives nature:
