The Coriolis effect doesn't suggest a spherical Earth. It requires one. The math has a sin(φ) term. Latitude φ. That cross product is where the geometry lives. Ω points along Earth's rotation axis — from south pole through north pole, tilted 23.5° from vertical. When you take Ω × v at different latitudes, the horizontal component of the resulting acceleration is: f = 2Ω sin(φ) — the Coriolis parameter. φ is latitude. This is not an assumption. This is what the cross product evaluates to on a rotating sphere. The sin(φ) is a geometric result, not a parameter someone chose to insert.

Every military since WWI has corrected for this. The correction works. The shell lands where the equation says it will.
Every artillery battery since World War I has applied a Coriolis correction. The correction depends on latitude AND hemisphere. A gun crew in France corrects right. A gun crew in the Falklands corrects left. Same gun. Same shell. Same muzzle velocity. Different sin(φ). If the Earth were flat, both crews would apply zero correction and both shells would land in the same relative position. They do not. The shells land where the spherical-Earth equations predict. The flat-earth equations predict a miss. The miss is 148 meters at 45 km range. That is not rounding error. That is a different zip code.

In 1851 Léon Foucault hung a 67-metre pendulum from the dome of the Panthéon in Paris and let it swing. The plane of the swing rotated. Nothing was pushing it. The pendulum was swinging in a straight line relative to the fixed stars. The floor of the Panthéon — and Paris — was rotating underneath it. The rate of rotation: T = 24h / sin(φ). At the North Pole the period is 24 hours — one full rotation per Earth day. At 49°N (Paris), sin(49°) = 0.755, so T ≈ 31.8 hours. At the equator, sin(0) = 0, T = ∞ — the pendulum does not rotate at all. At the South Pole: 24 hours, but in the opposite direction.

The flat earth crowd has tried to explain the Foucault pendulum. They cannot. On a flat disk rotating like a record, a pendulum at the center (North Pole) would complete one rotation per day — fine. But a pendulum at the edge of the disk would also complete one rotation per day — same angular velocity, just further from the center. That is not what we observe. We observe T = 24h/sin(φ). That formula has no flat-disk derivation. It cannot be derived from flat disk geometry because flat disk geometry does not produce a latitude-dependent rotation period. The formula requires a sphere. In 1908 the Hungarian physicist Roland von Eötvös published measurements taken on ships in the Black Sea. Ships moving east weighed measurably less than ships moving west. On a flat rotating disk — the flat earth model — every point on the surface has the same angular velocity ω (one rotation per 24 hours, if they concede rotation at all). The effective Coriolis force on a flat disk is: F_c = −2m(ω_z × v) where ω_z is constant everywhere on the disk. There is no latitude. There is no sin(φ). There is no φ at all. The force is the same magnitude and direction everywhere. It does not flip. It does not go to zero at any circle. It does not produce a 31.8-hour pendulum in Paris and a 48-hour pendulum in Cairo and an infinite pendulum at the equator. It cannot. The geometry will not allow it.
